    New clutch, have some issues.

I got my new clutch installed last week and right off the bat had some issues. The pedal feel was crappy when I was just trying to start the car. I could tell it was not right. So I bled the line. Tried it again, no luck. I checked my adjustment and it was almost all the way out (for most TOB travel). So I move it further, there are barely any threads holdind it now and bled it again. It felt like normal again. I put on about 300 miles on it(mostly highway) and it still doesn't feel right. I could swear the engagement point has been changing and sometimes it's shifting notchy which leaves me to believe I have a leak. The master, slave, and rubber line are not original (I've replaced them with stock) so I am familiar with how they go out. I didn't touch the system when I dropped the tranny, just unbolted the slave and hardline. It doesn't seem right that I have to have the master adjusted that far out.

I'm worried about improper break in if this continues. Knowing that, I have babied it even more than usual.

    Any thoughts?

Can you measure the actual arm travel? You may have it adjusted TOO far out.

What clutch did you put in?

Gonna have to get a second person to see the arm travel. Is there a measured distance spec somewhere? I thought it might have been that valve issue so I did try to bleed the system with the rod adjusted much much closer (for less TOB travel). It did not change anything, in fact made it worse. So I remembered seeing a jacks transmission video and watched it again. So I tried to adjust the pedal by pushing back on the slave. It seemed that no matter how far I adjusted the rod I still could. It also resulted in fluid going back into the reservoir. I thought because it was a DSM that it didn't apply to ours. Now that I think about it, it seems that maybe the issue is that my valve may be bad and is not sealing properly. So maybe my master went bad again.

Try peeling back the slave boot, it may be holding the fluid thats leaking if your slave is blown.

Yeah, I haven't seen the level go down yet but that doesn't mean it's not showing under there. Good call.

I guess I am just annoyed that I figured I wouldn't have to touch this at all. Clutch was perfectly adjusted before and all it did was sit for a month or two and now I gotta screw around with it.

Toni, EVERY time I have ever pulled the clutch I have had to adjust the pedal when done. And I have pulled the trans MANY times.

Wonder if your clutch disk itself is dragging on the flywheel. What did you torque the pressure plate bolts to?

Did you ever watch jack from jackstransmissions video on adjusting the pedal? If you adjust it too far out the system is no longer self adjusting and the pedal will move.

    Torqued to spec as always.

Why would you have to if the slave is self adjusting for clutch wear?
