It's probably my neck of the woods, people blast through the start of red lights all the time here. It sounds like your penalties are on par or close to ours, but it feels as though they're rarely enforced. Excessive acceleration on the other hand? They'll get you for that.

aahhh, see we now have safety camera's on 1/3rd of our traffic lights those lights double as speed camera's so if your speeding WHILE going through the red.... BOOM lots of points lol

might be worth seeing if they want to put in "safety" cameras on a few of your worse intersections?

Ohh yeah, it's bound to happen! The bigger cities here in the states have them, but as you get more rural they become a bit less common.

We have a love/hate relationship with cameras in my area though. Great money makers for the city, but makes a lot of the residents mad in the process (especially with the speed cameras).

For those of you that rush out on lights, do you not worry about this too much?

It's not like I brake boost and launch every light, I don't do that at all, but I do "leave everyone in the dust" because I am attentive to stop lights. People unattentive at lights are people who cause traffic to pile up, and don't let as many cars as possible get through the light.

Funny that I am attentive at lights, because to anything else if its more than 5 seconds I am usually like "Oh look a squirell."

I drive briskly, in all my cars, but I don't floor it out of the gate in any of them. I'm also usually quicker than the other guy next to me at a light to notice it's changed to green. I typically drive about 10mph over, so I accelerate to that speed in a linear fashion. I can't stand it when people press the gas, get up to about 20mph, then I guess they decide they're going too fast, so then they creep up to 30, and then by that time they've gone a quarter mile or more and they see a speed limit sign that says it's 40, so then they hurry up and get to 40. This seems to be the norm around here unfortunately.

On this topic, am I the only one who HATES when people start rolling into the intersection before the light turns green?

I swear, I see people do that all the time. It's like they think they will make the light turn green faster. Worst part is I STILL beat them off the line because they creep, stop, creep, stop, creep, stop. All I do is hit the gas and I look back and they are still sitting there.

if you creep into the intersection in europe, you can't see the traffic light. someone had the retarded idea to put them on the SAME SIDE OF THE INTERSECTION that you stop on.

yeah that's really annoying. even when your're at the line you always have to bend forward and turn your neck to see that light.
