More racing this past Sunday, vids inside.

Went to the local autocross event #2 for the year on Sunday and did very well. I was 6th fastest out of 160 cars....My best outing yet.

Pertinent mods are in my sig, stock turbos, untouched motor with 130k on it, original trans, most likely a stock clutch (havent had trans off since owning car). The car runs very well, paced Coopkill's car damn near dead even in a 3rd gear pull, he dyno'd 310 awhp.

I got to the track at about 11:45, the 2nd half of the morning session was only at about run #2 of four so I had plenty of time to watch. It also decided to rain JUST enough to coat the runway with a nice slick fresh coat of water without raining enough to wash it away, lol. Spin city ensued. About every 5th car went roundy round. It was cold and windy. A half hour with no more rainfall though it dried up lots and the cars were speeding up running 5-8 seconds faster than their second sessions. Morning session had ended pretty late around 12:50. I walked the track once with my dad and thought I had it figured out, WRONG.

Maybe an hour before my run group

Me in grid with my tire blankets (My fronts hit 150F by the end of the day, people without them were sitting at 70F tire temps all day long)

My first run. I screwed up the end soooo bad. I was supposed to stay center and go through the element in a clockwise direction, didnt quite happen... ran a 65.xxx

2nd run, front tires about 85F, rears at 70 (from 45 ambient) I got the course right and picked up 4 seconds.

3rd run, temps in the mid teens for fronts, mid 80's rear. This was my best run all day. Car ran wonderfully and I had the gears down correctly.

4th run. Nevermind the bag. I ninja'd it though... I thought it was stuffed in the back, should have thrown it out, yeah yeah I know. A decent run but I could not improve, shifted to much, came in to hot in a couple areas, screwed up.

Sorry about the camera angle, i really need to figure it out.... Will spend more time to get it right next time.

Also interesting to find out... whats with the rpm limited on our cars, I had thought that we only had fuel cut which is far from a limiter when it actually hits those conditions.
I banged off a limited in 1st gear a few times before the final 90 degree right hander to the final straight and once in 2nd gear. Just unusual I suppose, I had never hit the limiter before and didnt know it acted like "normal"

So yeah, I am mega impressed with the Dunlop Z2 tires, they are crazy grippy when hot, I cant imagine the BFG Rivals. I went with the Z2's since it rains here a LOT and the BFG's still arent out for another month or 2 in my size, got the Z2's in February.... BFG failed hard with that one. I saw probably 25-30 cars with the Z2's and not a single one on the Rivals.
