I agree the Geneva Conventions have merit but do not apply, Thadd - problem is, the international community does NOT agree, and that's where my mention comes in - for their own reasons, they don't feel compelled to develop a separate body of policy to deal with terrorism; in fact, they willfully ignore the need.

I agree on your other points as well, relative to due-process, etc., but I think a bit of a line should be drawn between domestic acts and any connection with overseas sponsorship.

Think along these lines:

A terrorist encampment somewhere on the sands of the mideast...we know it's there, the country hosting it knows it is there (but disavows knowledge), but for 'official' purposes, it doesn't exist.

What harm if it ceased to exist in the literal sense as well?

Such a strategy might serve to enlighten.

I don't recall we had 'permission' to kill Bin Laden - do you?

I have a feeling the plant was there before the apartments. That automatic response opens up a lot of hatred in me, because it's the current thinking when people move next to racetracks and then complain about the noise, and then get the tracks shut down. And airports.

So unless you have information stating the plant was built after the apartments, I'd suggest you modify your thinking on who should move.

No, Chris, not trying to assert a pecking order over who has rights to the space - my thoughts reflect yours, but given this event, it might be something to consider, given the damage that must have occurred at the plant proper.

People who don't take their milieu into consideration when building/moving, etc., deserve what they get.

perpetrators who are US citizens face the US criminal system. perpetrators or enablers from outside the US should face a tribunal--governed by laws which have (sadly) never been drafted.

You just described the entire FATA of Pakistan, and we seem to catch flak from every which way regarding targeted strikes there.

just saw the pictures of the 2 guys they would like to find.. it looks like they have bridgestone golf caps on.. bridgestone would have pictures of all employees.. the only other place to get there caps would be a golf course and it would not be hard to check all courses in mass that would sell the caps, I don't see any golf caps at dicks so golf galaxy probable don't have them either.. then if someone gave them away they would probably call ... I would think this would be a way of finding the bastar--s
