Well yeah, I cant believe they let it happen in the first place. They were broadcasting their play book.

I forgive them. Hold nothing against them. We are all going to die, some quicker than others. I don't believe anyone should be tortured to death. Fucked up if you ask me. What makes you better than them if that's your answer?

humans ARE naturally evil. that's why it's taken centuries of enlightenment and progressive change to achieve the modicum of human rights that the western world enjoys to this day. i promise you, if humans weren't naturally evil, wars would not exist. the desire for belligerency would not exist. all disagreements would be handled respectfully to the mutual benefit of all involved parties.

of those "10 others" who rushed to help...how many of them have ever cut someone off in traffic? flipped the bird at someone they didn't like? physically or verbally abused someone? i could go on. i guarantee every "first responder" probably has skeletons in their closet. learning to overcome and minimize our baser, barbarous instincts does NOT mean that we are naturally "good". shall i quote statistics on how many people have been murdered in the name of religion? (and i'm not just talking about islam) GOOD people don't do that.

as much as you hate the idea, Paul (or even as much as I hate to admit it), 94stealthr/t is correct. Although it may be very cathartic to publicly dismember and vivisect a terrorist--it doesn't jive with our rule of law. It is not an acceptable practice among those who purport to believe in human rights. It doesn't matter if your kid or mine was involved--no matter how much personal anger we may have against said individuals who were responsible for an attack, we MUST respond with due-process and upholding the rule of law. Laws--as sanctioned by the body public--are the only thing which separates us from tyranny, oppression and terrorism. They are the clearly defined line which separates us as a system of consent, from states which rule by oppression.

Giving up our essential freedoms to enact martial law, or abandoning rule-of-law by giving in to our natural, evil instincts for revenge--that's when the terrorists win. I hate it, and it sucks ass; and it's also the only way to "win". Anyone who tells you otherwise doesn't understand the gravity of the issue or the depth of the concepts involved.
