WIndows 8 isn't bad. I use it daily on my work PC. I have 0 complaints about it too. Just visually different if you use the "Metro" interface, you can just click desktop and go to your normal windows 7 looking desktop. Ever need to find a program or file on your computer, just go to the metro screen and start typing. Win8 search feature blows Win7's out of the water. 0 wait time on finding anything and very easy to use.

    Differences is looks really.

I use Win7 x64 on my gaming rig at home just because I like Win7 for home use. Tho I do have Win8 on my craptop that will be used for car data logging and on the road stuff in the car.

I think my point was misunderstood. I'm not saying that windows 7 isn't better than xp. And certainly not saying that xp64 was worth a damn. I run win7 x64 on my laptop. It's better in pretty much every way (I build my own computers and do repair etc. so i usually stay up to date on OS).

I do have a desktop I still run windows xp on and it works fine and doesn't get in my way about certain things etc.

My only point was its all about want and needs, most people don't need x64, most applications don't utilize it (albeit starting to more, as IPD stated). We really don't have different opinions as much as we're just looking at the situation two different ways.

you could have used the same argument for sticking with non-ddr memory. or sata-1. or AGP interface. just because "it works fine" doesn't mean that it's capable. moving to a new standard allows for improvements in product performance. just because those improvements aren't immediately available, doesn't mean that the changeover was pointless.

if that WERE the case, there would be no reason for people to have purchased blu-ray players when they came out (the initial offered content was FAR inferior to DVD). likewise, there'd be no reason for people to buy 4k players. but it WILL become the new standard.

Lenovo is selling the Yoga about as fast as they can make them, some models two weeks behind, they were almost two months back ordered.

I'll be completely honest, I only bought the Surface because I like the idea of MSFT making it's own hardware.

Not following you! I bought the Elite 360 when it first came out and it lasted about 6 months before RROD, and was replaced in less than a month. I've had no issues since then, which was about 5 years ago. My Surface is an awesome piece of hardware and was cheaper than buying an iPad with the same amount of internal memory and it came with a keyboard.

Sony's hardware is just as bad. The PS3 had tons of problems when it first came out. Even now, I repair more PS3's with YLOD, than I do XBOX's with RROD.

My launch Xbox 360 took 5 years to RROD and when it did, it was fixed in a month.

The Surface is a fantastic tablet and I think it's a better solution than the iPad.
