I've never heard anyone complain that their BOV holds 30 psi but it surges on WOT shifts. In fact, that makes zero sense because the throttle never closes during a WOT shift, so there'd be no opportunity for compressor surge. What on earth are you trying to ask? The part-throttle 'heavy breathing' has nothing to do with the type of BOV.

I run a modified twin piston, the small piston has been mounted rigidly to the large one instead of having a weak spring in there, this way boost pressure pressing on the small piston will never overcome the pressure on the large piston at WOT but will dump when needed.
I also have. Blitz that I plan to strip and refurb. Have tried a fair few bovs now..
GTO-TT, PTE 1200's, M20, Emanage Ultimate, OS Geiken R3C,
TD04-16g`s, Maf-t. 13g`s 12.4@115mph / 16g`s 12.5@117mph.
Not with TD04s. I don't have any surging or fluttering at part throttle +/- 0 psi. If I have any WOT I certainly can't hear it over the exhaust.
I guess I mean stalling the turbo then on WOT shifts when you lift off to go to the next gear. If the BOV can't vent enough volume of air some could still come back against the turbo when the throttle is closing. All of the higher boost Supras, EVOs, STIs, etc all said the same thing about running high boost with some BOVs. It has ruined turbos in the past and many people can hear it audibly causing resistance against the impeller. I only ask because I have a feeling this might have been what caused my turbo shaft to break at 28 psi. I talked to my friend a few days ago that rode with me and he said it was during the 3-4 shift he saw the turbo puff smoke when it let go. I would at least like to eliminate one variable if it was a contributing factor. Somehow it must have either overspun or stalled out a little is my thinking.
Yes.
Ah. Looks like the RS is basically the same as the RZ, with a 40mm valve and plenty of bad reviews out there. The type R is 47mm valve with nothing but good reviews. If I were using a smaller BOV, I'd consider using a pair of them to be safe. The RZ is rated @ 'up to' 400 hp, while the R (with stiff spring) is 375+ hp (no upper limit listed).
Tial. Or nothing.
