Has Anyone Used Strong Arm Rear Hatch Struts?

Okay, so now that I have the majority of the things needed to get the car going again, it's time to re-replace my hatch struts/supports. I got lucky with my ones for the hood (OEM, from a low-mileage car, & they're NM)...the replacement hatch ones worked fine until the cold weather kicked in last year & now they're completely spent.

Rather than going through the hassle of trying to find another pair that won't crap out on me over the summer, I'm thinking about going with some new Strong Arm supports (USA-made).

So rather than jumping feet first into them, I was wondering if anyone here has tried these out yet & if so, how well have they been holding up over the years?

I am one of those guys who always tries to go OEM with my replacement parts (unless I go with one of the vendor's better replacement products), so it's quite unfortunate that Mitsu no longer offers these up for us (I think I've added them to my shopping cart twice before at Cherry Hill, lol).

If nobody here has tested these things out yet, then I suppose I'll be the test mule & report back on how they end up working out...

    Thanks!!

I know a few guys who have used them for the rear hatch on a jeep forum I'm a member on and they have nothing but good things to say. I have been meaning to buy some for my jeep but so far I haven't gotten motivated enough to get them. I would give them a shot and see how they work.

Good luck! Let us know how they work!

I have a few sets of GOOD used hatch struts. $25 per pair, plus shipping if you want.

Thanks for the offer, Brian, but I think I'll give these StrongArm gas struts a shot...I'll update this thread with what I find out about them.

Well, I got these things installed & so far so good! Now my hatch actually takes some force to close & it pops itself up once the key is turned (comes up nice & gradual, of course)...It's never been able to do that since I've owned it!

So, if anyone is in need of new rear hatch support struts, I think you'd be satisfied with these as opposed to trying to find a NM set of originals.

BTW: My LH replacement one was completely toast...not exactly the best way to spend $35.00. ::/
