Yep, just watch it. With TX plates you dont get pulled over as fast, and us oilfield traffic seems to get freebees sometimes.

    5-9mph over is no problem.

But, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas are traffic hell holes.
Especially BR and Houston. Same goes for Austin in rush hour.

zel-man is on his way to pick me up. Taking me to DIA here we go! It's really a tough decision regarding routes. Depending on the weather I'm thinking about going thru Baton Rouge to grab a set of heads and then heading to Houston/Dallas. Should pull in around 7-8pm on Saturday night. If the weather and traffic report history is shitty I'm going thru St. Louis and K.C. tho. I hope I don't have to... Kansas is booooring!

STL construction is largely along the bridge that crossess the Mississippi near the arch (the Poplar Street Bridge, 55/70 to Hwy 40). There are plenty of ways to avoid it regardless of how you come into the city. If I were coming in from the south I would shoot over to Cape Girardeau via Wickliffe, KY and then head up I-55, but that's just me.

And the drive from Columbia, MO to KC is pretty boring, but not as bad as the drive from Topeka to Denver.

the driver through western missouri and into/out of oklahoma wasn't the most pleasant time I had, but at least I didn't have to stop much. no 1st and 2nd gear for that trip.

Well, I'm really disappointed. I wrenched on that car for about 16 hours to get it to the point to where I could diagnose the condition of the engine. I came to find the motor is blown. There are a number of floating valves in the heads. I can hear a bunch of valve tapping. It sounds like a bag of hammers. Consequently, I will not be purchasing this vehicle. I'm going to cut my losses and fly home. I get on a flight tomorrow at Daytona International and I'll be back in Denver before nightfall.

I'll discuss more about my experience later. Right now I'm really tired and don't know what to say. I will say I've put about $300 of my own parts on this car just to get it to the point of running. I'm going to walk away from those parts and walk away from my $250 short notice return airfare.
