Question How did you find out about the Stealth/3000GT?

Hello fellow members. The name is Mike. I would like to ask you all: How did you find out about the Stealth/3000GT? And finally what led you to buying one? Do you like it?

When I was about 10 years old, I was REALLY getting into cars, and we had just moved into a new house and the neighbor across the street had a Red 99 VR4 that would often sit in the driveway. I didn't know what it was but it was love at first sight.

at this time I also picked up love for Gran Turismo 3, and when I found what car it was on the game. It was a done deal. Ever since then I have wanted a RED (or Black) 1999 3000GT VR4

I remember seeing them as a child. I never really got into it until I was in highschool. Signed up on 3si when I was 16 or 17 and just lurked around because the cars interested me. When I was about 18 or 19 I was at work and I noticed a black 92 vr4 sitting in a handicap parking spot. I told the owner it was a nice car and she said it was for sell. So a few weeks later, I made her an offer and bought it.

Now I am addicted to it.

in 1955, i killed a man in reno...just to watch him die. i though i'd been reincarnated & that life would continue--ON EARTH. then one day i thought maybe i'd died and gone to heaven because i could finally own one of the sexiest cars ever designed.

...come to find out that i wasn't back on earth & i wasn't in heaven either. that happened right about the time started paying for repairs. it's kinda like this:

Was 15 (2001), searching eBay motors for potential sports cars to buy and came across the VR4. The rest is history.

The year was 1992. I remember this day as if it were yesterday - walking down the street with a friend of mine. I was young, I was interested in whatever youngins were interested in - but out of the blue something caught my eye.

Glistening under the sun, Pearl White paint showing the reflection of every moving branch on a tree nearby. It was a brand new, pristine condition 1991 Dodge Stealth RT/TT, which I had rapidly learned from that very moment that these cars wouldn't just catch my eye that one time - but would catch my eye for many years to come.

Awestruck, my friend and I sat on the curb of that road for what seemed like hours - taking in the beauty of this rare automotive masterpiece. The elegant, sharp, modest with a touch of extreme yet subtle curves - this car was an innovator in more ways than one, and one day (I told myself), I would own one. There was no question about it.

Fast forward ten years, that day finally arrived. The car value and budget finally agreed, so I took the plunge. Enter a Pearl White 1991 Dodge Stealth R/T, purchased September 15th, 2002. Over eleven years later, I still pamper that car like the day I got her.

Do I like it? I love it.

    Best car I've ever owned.

I bought mine because there were no supras for sale locally when I was car shopping. They were the only turbo cars of the time that weren't hideous like the 300zx or too small for me to get into like the rx7.

I was a Dodge fan all my life. My first vehicle was a 1975 Dodge van, which, of course, I had to customize (that was what we called modding back then) I had captains chairs, custom made cabinets and a table that converted into a bed.
Next came a 1974 Barracuda followed by a '74 Challenger. When I finally decided to buy a new car, I went with a 1990 Eclipse, since Chrysler owned the majority of Mitsu at the time. When I started reading about the up coming Stealth, I wanted one bad, but it was out of my price range back then, so it remained a dream for a while. Finally, I had some money in the bank in 1996 and started looking at Stealths again. I didn't want a turbo because I knew the insurance would be too much, so I found an ES in the classifieds and took it for a test drive. That was it! I was back the next day with a check and it's been mine ever since.
Obviously, it's been the best car I ever owned, still has the original motor and the original paint, except for the RT parts I put on in 2011. Even some of the bulbs have never been replaced!

I noticed them when they were new; thought they were really good-looking cars, thought it was a shame it was a V6 - didn't find out there was a turbo version until a year or so later.

I was totally out of cars - family-man - never entertained the idea of having another car with any muscle, so it was of strictly peripheral interest.

At some point I remember commenting to someone that I liked the way they looked, and whoever I was talking to said they'd had lots of trouble with the turbo models.

I was surprised to hear there was a turbo, but put-off by the bad rap as to the mechanicals.

When my buddy from Colorado told me about the one he was looking at, I told him what I'd heard, and he said he was surprised to hear it, because this one had 135K on it and ran like a dream (he'd already driven it).

He decided he wanted to stick with his FD, and I took the leap, instead.

    Lucky me...

I was looking for a replacement for my Supra, and stumbled on a ~$3k olive green 97-98 VR-4 on craigslist and figured out it was a scam, but it got me hooked. Found out that the 94-96 was the best looking and bought one from a used car dealer up near NYC. Biggest guido tools I've ever met, but I had my VR-4.
