    That's what I meant

I thought that might of been the oil from the engine but you poured everything through the paint filter right? That was scary looking.

Oil change had. I drained the pan through a filter, and had zero contaminants.

Happy with that I went postal on the filter.

I filtered the contents of the filter, and came up with this. Looking closely 90% of what was in the filter seems to be from tearing it apart.

After cutting the filter material apart I did find some brassy looking material. Unsure if should be worried about the amount/kind.

The oil was quite dark this time, and I am seeing less smoke (rings finally seating).

What do you guys think? Normal, or pull the pan/engine?

A lot of the time they will smoke till the rings seat. Mine didn’t but I’ve seen them do it. You might of just been burning off some of the oil in your exhaust also. I honestly wouldn’t worry about pulling the pan. I don’t see any bearing material, from the pics anyway.

There is a slight bit of glitter on the paper filter, but not much. That oil was pretty damn dark for around 175-200 miles, must be from the assembly lube.

Hey Bill, my smoking issue with my build is fixed. I talked to Ray and he pointed me straight to my PCV system. I re-installed my rear Krank vent and the smoking has stopped. IDK if yours might have a similar issue but it's something to check.
