We had a late start, a parts run and a lunch break before we started. Plus Mugambo likes to play hide and seek slowing us down!

Absolutly heart broke! You would think I would learn from the first time forgetting. This time is much worse of an outcome. Someone please tell me I can install this without a complete removal of the trans. As in can I just remove the bolts, slide it back, and slip it in sideways, then rotate into place? PLEASE!

Sorry.... If you want it properly instaled, the two bolts that hold it in are behind the flywheel.
If you were to leave those bolts out, you may be able to rotate it in there, but you would have to have the trans back far enough to get it by the dowels, at that point I think I'd just pull it out...
I once installed a TH350 in a chevy 4X4, and when I went to bolt up the torque converter, I realized it was still sitting on the bench....![]()
You might be able to slip it around the clutch once you slide the trans back, but I've never tried, seems unlikely. Most likely you'll have to remove the trans and the clutch too. I remember driving without one, I think it messed with my clutch pedal adjustment but I think that was it.
Damn, I was soo on course to fire it up in the am. On the creeper, axle on chest, and looked over to see this glowing in the box I leaned it on. Axle may have been harmed in the insuing wtf moment... Done for the day as mrs has a party to attend. Will yank it in the am.
I have been guilty of forgetting the converter bolts. You know pretty quick when you fire it up!
Agreed with Larry, everyone that has spun a wrench has pulled a "kramer"...referencing Sienfeld of course. Mine was leaving a shop rag in cylinder #1 of a supercharged 427 V8. Never noticed it until trying to start her up, and the entire motor locked up. After a few hours of head scratching, finally pulled the plugs, and the very first one had red shop rag threads on the electrode
...so can we all just agree to blame the help again, 11 years later i still blame my buddy for the shop rag![]()
if you cant fix it with a hammer...then you have an electrical problem
I would, but you failed to show!
