I agree with 16. Mine had a bit of that polished look as well to them, but I forgot to fill the pick up tube and oil pump (and oil filter) before starting..So even though it had assembly lube between the bearing and the crank, the motor still had to turn over for a while before I developed oil pressure.

When I mistakenly tore apart my engine last year due to thinking I had bad rings when it was infact bad turbos, my 4k mile bearings looked similar....not 100% but similar. Most of the miles were on wg boost and I also had a good amount of 15psi + 400whp pulls.

Never had any oil pressure issues though. Never had/have a gauge though...stock gauge needle sits on big tick at idle..and 2 o clock driving

take that for whatever its worth..

Headed to the assembler for answers in an hour or so.

I prefilled the filtern, but jot the cooler. It started showing pressure after the first 15 second crank. I did like 8-10 or more prime cycles. Exact number is back somewhere here.

My recent bout with uneven bearing wear didn't end well. Was the crankshaft checked for cracks/straightness?

That was going to be my question as well.

    Hoping for the best Bill

Supposedly it was when getting pollished. My old bearing were I believe all even. Will have to lo9k closer tonight.

Me no likey. And don't use anti seize on those bolts. Just a little oil will be fine. It's not like it's going to rust inside the engine. Anti seize just makes a nasty mess.

Part good news, part unkown until I get under it tonight when home. The oil pressure, and the oil drained have the story. I will elaborate when home.

The builder asked me a few questions after looking at the bearings.

How was the oil pressure, and what psi at what rpm?
    Did it rise with rpm?
    What color was the oil?
    How many miles?

    He then told me:

I had/have a fueling problem. (Color of the oil) (Pressure issue hot at idle) (The fact that pressure rises with rpm)
The bearings got oil starved at idle, not at high rpm. (No sign of heat, flaking/pitting/discolor) (The starving of oil allowed the bearing/crank to get close enough to grab from friction)
The uneven wear is not a concern. (After looking close at it the remaining coating is so thin/see thru)

He told me to inspect the crank for grooves/markings, plastigauge them, and report my findings. I will get on the plastigauge in the am. I trust this guy as he builds a lot of race engines for the local racing scene, and has since I was in high school. He is used to seeing low mileage, high use engines.

I did inspect the crank. It does not have any visible grooving. I can however feel a uniform texture running my fingernail across all of the bearing surfaces. As in they are not polish/mirror smooth. Inspecting the thrust bearing further I found the source of the colored metal in the oil.

So, after I see what the plastigauge has to reveal, and what he says about the crank, if I have to pull the crank I might as well get rods/pistons this time, or go with a stage 3 3.1...

Damn, that is some horrible luck man. Can't even believe it myself.
