Screw your 6spd tranny....I found a way to make a free 7spd tranny for the 3S

i'm a little confused at how you got the shifter linkage messed up on the tranny.......if you never had it off!? it should not move. have you got the cables on right? not sure you can put them on wrong but worth a shot. get a flash light first and take a closer look at the linkage as we discussed above.

Ya the arms themselves were never removed from the tranny. Only the cables were unbolted and tied out of the way during the swap. With the cables off, the arms are able to move around freely tho, and I believe the pin that is circled ended up being put back underneath the other arm insead of in the center as pictured. Hard to describe, but it's the arm that when the cable is pulled back, it pivots and moves the other shifter arm up and then the other cable moves it forward.

What sort of adjustment is possible out of the shifter cables? I noticed while bolting them back on that they had some room to slide back and forth within the bracket...wonder if I somehow put them too tight or too loose. Wouldn't think that would block the trans from dropping into 1st tho? Anyone know how to manually put the trans into 1st with the cables off?

you did put shifter cable brackets back in the right places? the adjustment is in the car 10mm on the cables below the gear lever

Ya with my hand, before dropping the tranny I tried that, and it sounded like it clicked into gear, but when trying to remove the axle nuts the rotor just spun freely like it was still in neutral not sure why I couldn't manage to get the trans into gear by hand. I ended up using an impact to remove the axle nut since nobody was there to stomp on the brakes for me.

as for the not going in gear.... it wont lock the wheels up. it will just turn on the diff. the other wheel has to be blocked from turning

Oh duh...for some reason I was thinking it would act like it was on the ground, not allowing the wheels to turn. So maybe it really was in gear afterall. Thanks for the clarification on that one! Yeah, all the brackets are in the same spot, I just removed the bolts and left the bracket on the cables themselves when I removed them. I'm sure it has to be that little pin/arm thingy that is on the linkage on the trans itself. I'm almost positive I placed it underneath the one it is supposed to lift, when from the pics I've found it's supposed to be in the middle between both lips
