Kinda mushy brake pedal (1G Stealth TT)

Ever since purchase there has been a fairly large difference between the feeling in my brake pedal between the TT and the Spyder.

In the past month I have replaced the pads, turned the front rotors and bought new rotors for the rears.

Just today I did a complete brake fluid flush (have no clue when this was done last...it was pretty nasty, rusty and very low viscosity).

Unfortunately, none of this has improved the feel in my brake pedal.

Could it be the master cylinder? Any other ideas? (or am I to believe this is the feel of stock 1g brakes? My son's 93 has a much nicer (firmer) feel).

    Any input is greatly appreciated

    Bob.

When you push down on it pretty hard, does it sink more as you apply pressure or is it constant?

Are you losing brake fluid at all?

Are your flexible brake lines in decent shape?

    Pretty constant.

    No fluid loss, ever.

    Lines are probably originals....

Get a set of stainless brake lines. They help tremendously with pedal feel.

Same amount of fluid come out of each corner when you broke the bleeder loose?

Have someone press on the pedal several times while you watch the master cylinder reservoir.

If you notice a lot of air bubbles in the fluid, then chances are the seals might be shot/somewhat shot & are allowing air to bypass them around the piston/rod & into the fluid, causing the spongy feel in the pedal.

However, normally when the cylinder itself is bad, you'll have minimal effect (if any) on whichever system it operates whether it be clutch or brakes. I've only had a clutch master cylinder go out on me & when it happened, I couldn't use the clutch at all.

GL with figuring this out, Bob. I'd be curious to hear what others have to say.

Are you using the same pad in the spyder and the TT?

Not sure I want to put that kind of $ into my winter daily, but will put it under wifely consideration

I was on the pumping side of the deal, but I also filled the reservoir. More fluid (crappy colored) came from the brakes furthest from the master (started closest and ended furthest away).

Will do. I will post when I have this accomplished...(but I honestly don't think I have any leaks)...

Maybe not the same brand, but I run semi-metallic pads in both...

When you flush the brake fluid, about how much fluid should you use? I'm thinking of doing this to my Stealth before I start driving it this year.
