Ability to tag someone in a thread.

Basically if someone is starting a thread and they know a particular member is familiar or literate in this topic or issue you can tag them which would notify them of the thread. Basically like Facebook.

Discuss!

It's a system that could be abused so might need some discussion. I'm already thinking of ways I can tag Scotty in dodgy photos

not 100% sold. could have potential. i'd have to see it in use. i can imagine potential for abuse.

Also a like button. So instead of using the thanks button which is supposed to be used for Rep instead.

why is there a distinction? why do we need a difference?

Thanks button should be used to boost someone's reputation etc but has nothing to do with a post you might find funny or interesting etc. Don't want to be handing out Rep when not deserved.

who gives a crap about liking something then? what are we, facebook? unless it's being tracked in some visible metric somewhere, it's just a fluff feature that doesn't serve any purpose.
