New chat aka shoutbox

Not trying to pick on you or anything, but you really need to replace that browser if at all possible in your work situation. These days, you can count on just about half the web not playing nice with IE 6 -- developers have stopped supporting it and even Microsoft has started a campaign to get people to stop using it (Internet Explorer 6 Countdown | Death to IE 6 | IE6 Countdown).

I know not every work environment is conducive in upgrading it, but if you're in a position to vocalize your complaints, I'd suggest giving it a try.

can't upgrade. it's an xp system so chrome is a no-go.

and the websites i have to be logged in to and use at work do not play nice with firefox or anything not-ie, sadly.

if i could upgrade i would.

My situation is typical - 32-bit XP/IE8.

Board is all-around balky loading, scrolling, posting...chat scrolls to first post rather than last - makes chat unusable.

It's my work PC, so zero options, no workarounds, no other browsers allowed.

Alan - I don't know if you have the time, but maybe an alternative IE-only theme is in order. Get rid of the extra fluff, scripts, etc -- back to basics.

I have set chat to be in an inactive state when the page is loaded. It will stay in that state till you activate it.

I did alot of resarch on this chat and saw no indication that their were any issues with IE 8 and up. I'm less than happy that the issues do exist. I may rip it out and out the old one back in.
