Settings for 92 CAS when running 99 Clone ECU?

    Hi everyone,

I swore I came across this before but now that I need it, I can't seem to find it. I've been searching this forum (and the other) for a while now but I must not have the right search term. Can someone please let me know, or point me in the right direction? When upgrading/converting a 92 with CAS to the 99 Clone ECU there are said to be latency issues with the CAS versus the later year cam/crank sensors. What are the proper settings, and where in Chrome do I properly adjust it to work well with the gen 1 CAS?

I'm just doing a stock 92 to 99 ECU upgrade. I'm not planning on "tuning" the car until quite a while later (I've got a lot to learn).. At this point I just want to get the 99 ECM installed and flashed to work well on the stock 92 engine. I seem to have found much of the other info in the stickies and other postings, but the CAS part I just cant find. Thanks!

You don't need to change anything. The latency offset will show a 4 degree timing variance in the upper RPMs. At idle, there's almost no difference.

When you tune your car, your timing map maybe a little more conservative than one used in a 93+ car but that changes nothing in terms of how you tune it. The same rules apply

Thanks for the response! At the present time, the car has no ECU. My desire was to get the 99 clone so i'd have more options later with the car. For now, i want the car to run like stock so I planned to turn off the 99 specific functions(extra 02, etc), and add the later model purge solenoid so it was equivalent to OEM. Right now, I just want stock driveability. If I just do this, would I still have to tune further, or would this be safe until I am ready to invest time in properly tuning (maybe next year)? If I had the option of using the stock 93+ crank and cam sensors would that be better? (My car had a 93 engine installed with the existing crank/cam sensors sitting there, however it has the CAS and that is what's wired up).

    It's your call.

You'll have stock drivability either way.

So us 1992 guys can just drop in and go? No issues? Heck yeah, got harness, now just need ECU.
