    J2534 Read Error / Error 16

I got the chrome ecu installed in my car and running but my laptop is having issues connecting with the tatrix cable. all the drivers installed successfully, and the laptop recognizes the adatper with no faults. but when i try to use ecuflash or ecuscan to connect to the vehicle, it gives me this error

im not sure what to do about it?

ive already tried redownloading and reinstalling the software - no go.

it is an amd x64 laptop running win7.

i went to try and drive my car home and now my car barely wants to run at all.

the chrome ecu came with a stock tune on it, yet when i pulled out my '93 ecu and put this one in, the car misfires like crazy. both ecus have a stock tune on it, shouldnt they both work the same?!

    i am confused.

I know what that error is.
I believe you have my first obd1 - obd2 adapter plug.
I realized this today when i was making more plugs, but I accidently switched the blue and yellow wire on your adaptor plug.
Yours is the only one sent out like that, I caught the ones I was shipping today.
Just switch them at either end and it should work.
    Sorry for the inconvienence.
Also your battery should be well above 12v before you attempt to flash it. put that sucker on a charger.

I know I was merely trying to get the ecu to connect for data logging. for flashing i have a charger i will hook up that supplies a good 14v.

If you do not have the peripheries set properly for your model year it may not run well.

Weird, I put that ecu on a 91 vr4 completely stock and it started and drove very nicely on the V2 stock tune.
Please check all your wires and the condition of your ecu plugs. Then datalog in evoscan to see if you are getting any bizzare readings from your sensors ie air temp -60, etc.

I got the read problem fixed; the swapped wires did it.

The car not running right, however, is still borked.

I tried reflashing the ecu with the "1st gen" peripharies and it still misses / runs very very lean. (same as before)

It actually runs perfectly fine on cold start for the first 10 or so seconds, then starts running leaner and leaner until the car runs so lean that pressing down the pedal doesn't even make the rpms go up.

    here is a video

now i am not running a stock 99 ecu, i am running jester's repinned 99 ECU. I am thinking that has something to do with it but i am unsure. Me and adam are trying to troubleshoot it via phone.

I will update this when I make headway.
