and what do you do with games that require steam/windows live/battle.net? don't play them?

I wish I could still play the first Guildwars...I tried logging on the otherday and it won't let me..gives me a bunch of jibber jabber when I try too...

I highly doubt my PC can handle the new Guildwars...

paul, imho, xbox has NEVER been a compelling reason for a console. it just happens to be less repulsive than the ps3 (at least price-wise, development-wise, etc). I'm more than happy to stick to nintendo's non-invasive MO.

    p.s.
i wonder if getting the ACLU involved would help turn the tide against this recent trend of eliminating second-hand markets. i sure as hell wouldn't buy a BMW if i couldn't re-sell it someday.

Lib play book, You know, they want to hurt lower income black families. Make a story about this move being racist.

Heck, I couldn't even play games then. I don't have high speed internet where I live. I find it funny though that console makers want to switch to an all digital download service (nevermind what it'd cost them to keep it running) and ISPs want to start putting data caps on folks.

I made a similar point to this, I often go with out internet in the places I go or situations I put myself in...So why should I buy THIS NEW AWESOME XBOX, when I know there will be months on end I wont even play it because I wont have internet.

Very good point on that 2nd part

Especially given 50gb Blu Ray games..That'd tear up a data cap in a hurry. Of course the reason why you should get this new awesome Xbox is because
ZOMG NEW XBOX! PLAY ALL THE CALLS OF DUTY!

However the specs for it are actually rather weak. A well built PC will give similar performance without that problem while also being useful for other things. (I heard you might even be able to play solitaire on these things.)
