...but a little pricey with 160k on it![]()
if you cant fix it with a hammer...then you have an electrical problem
hahaha the guy is on crack. it's stock twins too.
The QSV just doesn’t really interest me much. It’s on the long list of ‘maybe someday’, but I’m not excited enough about it to pursue in the relative short term. It just doesn’t really have a tangible purpose for my goals. If I want low RPM stump-pulling TQ then I’d rather start with a platform already suited for it out of the box, i.e. a V8 or V10. A local acquaintance is running E85, QSV, 6265 and 264 cams and it makes awesome down low TQ (comparatively), but in lower gear pulls all it does is rip the tires loose. Once the turbo is lit and you’re banging gears the QSV does nothing. From a dig the QSV is superseded by 2-step/antilag. All the QSV really buys you is the ability to start a pull at 300-500RPM earlier than without; I’d rather just downshift and forego all the unneeded complexity. It looks neat on a dyno, but in the real world, for me at least, it’s a solution waiting for a problem. Not to mention you really need a standalone and a lot of tuning to set the appropriate thresholds for your particular setup; it’s not plug n play instant spool gains – it’s been proven that not ‘tuned’ correct there are essentially no gains. And lastly, at least on pump gas boost thresholds, you might not want all that extra airflow in the lower RPM; it may be more appropriate to keep the timing more advanced than to drop it in lieu of more boost.
What it really boils down to is I’m not afraid of, or otherwise turned off by “lag”. Lag can be mitigated with proper gear selection. What I want is top-end rip that will blur your vision at it pulls hard and harder to redline. A buddy of mine has an old cast wheel PTE 76GTS (76mm) that most would consider very lazy/laggy. After driving it back to back with my stock twin Hardtop, it has ~1000-1200RPM more “lag” (and about 500RPM more than my previous 72mm setup), but it makes up for it in every way once lit. If you’re in the right gear, then there is no “lag”. These new billet wheels will cut that difference in half or greater and make even more power.
Sorry, missed your previous response. Honestly not really – the stock brakes are more than sufficient for anything I’ve been able to throw at them and that includes brake stomps at 150MPH. That said, I’m always willing to listen to a great deal. So depending on what you’ve got and the price… ..maybe.. Send me a PM, I guess.
I can’t even begin to assess a fair market value with the vague details provided. A 50k mile clean title original 6sp ’98 will easily fetch 34k+ depending. PM me a link to the ad or whatever and I can give you a more accurate reading. A few months back a 13k mile bone stock ’98 sold for 52k in less than 48hrs from when the ad was posted.
The asking price is a joke. If it’s a clean title original 6sp in great shape for the miles then it would realistically sell for mid/low 20’s.

X2 on 3/s videos like supra videos....
Took the auto the track yesterday to see how it would fair with the OG twins.
Pertinent mods:
Blitz SUS intake
RMM downpipe
TRD gen2 exhaust
GReddy 3-Row FMIC
HKS SSQV
18" BFG drag radials
twins in sequential with the #1 turned up to 15psi; ~20psi peak
100 octane from the Marathon pump
Weather was nice -- upper 60's but with a fairly stiff headwind all day.
The BFG's are great on the street -- the car dead hooks with a 7-8psi footbrake launch. With the footbrake and E-brake it builds up to 15psi off #1 almost instantly before it overpowers the brakes, so I was expecting to leave fairly hard at the track. Unfortunately, I was literally the only car on radials (out of maybe 20 cars total) so they made me run on the unprepped lane, which was TERRIBLE. It was like an iceskating rink -- I was spinning the tires while staged on the footbrake before the car even started to boost, and spun most of the way through 1st and then it spun hard into 2nd every run..![]()
That said here are the slips:
Pass breakdown:
1st Pass -- 20psi in the tires; relatively short burnout. Footbraked and as soon as it start to build boost the rear tires broke loose. Spun hard all the way through 1st.
2nd Pass -- Headwind picked up and maintained the rest of the day. 19psi in the tires; slightly more aggressive burnout. Footbraked and e-braked to keep the rears from spinning while staged and left with a light 8-9psi. Mild wheelhop off the line (in an auto!?) but definitely left harder. Spun HARD into 2nd and the ass kicked sideways so I got out and back in, which killed the rest of the run..
3rd Pass -- 18psi in the tires; more aggressive burnout. Footbraked and e-braked and left with 12psi. Controlled spin through 1st but as soon as it shifted into 2nd it broke loose hard again..
4th Pass -- 18psi in the tires; very short burnout. Mild footbrake launch at maybe 4-5psi. Lightly wheel hopped again but felt fairly strong until it spun hard in 2nd again.
5th Pass -- 18psi in the tires; slightly more aggressive burnout. Slightly more aggressive footbrake launch at 6-7psi but again spun while still staged and then spun through 1st and 2nd again.
Called it a day after that. After the very first pass with the terrible 60' I was confident I'd run an 11.xx but just couldn't make it happen. In hindsight I should've tried talking the track guys into letting me make a pass in the left lane, but according to my pit neighbor it was terrible as well. Oh well; gives me something to shoot for again...!
Next time out I'll be on the CCW drag pack. I'm confident it will run a solid 11 with just a little more hook; spinning in 2nd is what's really killing me...![]()

I trade off between the 2 addictions. I've actually been on a break from flying this last year so, but plan to hit heavy again this spring. I've got another 40% (Cap 232) that's in the process of being refurb'd and its completion will be the impetus to get back to it. Go to www.modelaircraft.org and find a field near you and check it out. Most clubs are more than willing to put anyone interested on a buddy box and let them fly!
Solutions Delivery for Point of Sale and EFT Processing for a Fortune 300 retailer. I'm not rich but I make a good pull while keeping a regular 9-5, and live in an area with a low cost of living. Most importantly NO KIDS!
If you're successfully running your own business then keep with that and continue to build it! I would not recommend starting off in IT later in life, if at all...! Experience trumps everything, and without any you'll have a tough time doing anything IT-related no matter what degree or certs you might have. It's a long road before you start making any 'real' money; I couldn't imagine starting off fresh now...
