Not sure if your day is the same as mine but Eddie VanHalen isn't in there so I'm assuming it isn't. Out of the list it's Steve Vai but Eddie has kicked out so many more bad ass songs. I would like to note that Eddie went lame in the end but.........

A lot of the people play the way they play because of him.

John Petrucci is a god on guitar. There's not many that can keep up with him. Some others to consider, if there's ever another poll, are Eric Johnson, Blues Saraceno, Marc Bonilla, Ty Tabor and Steve Morse.

Oh, and except Steve Vai. I saw a show of his on Palladia... what a tool. He looks so full of himself I couldn't watch it.

I agree that Vai is over rated. Saw him on stage jamming with Dream Theater and Dweezil Zappa in LA and I would even say Zappa's boy was better.
