Buy some gum. Keep yourself busy. Try to stay away from drinking alcohol.

Put your life under the microscope. Look at anything that you've ever associated with having a cigarette and discontinue that. Set yourself a financial goal. Take a look at how much you spent on smoking a month and then figure out what you would rather have bought with your money and use it as a reward. If you smoke 1 pack a day at $4.50 * 30 days a month = $135 a month in savings = $1620 a year.

I bought a motorcycle with the amount I saved by quitting smoking, and then if I ever had a craving, I just went riding. Can't smoke with a full face helmet on Haven't had a smoke in over 3.5 years.

Take it day by day. It is a mental game. Just stack the mental cards in your favor

Good luck my friend. Ive been smoking a pack a day for about 6 years and regret ever lighting that first cig. Waking up every morning to coughing black crap up really sucks.
