Miss fire / bogging?

So I'm having issues with my 92 3K SL. When I try to launch it seems to miss fire throwing the check engine light and bogging the car to an almost stop. Never kills the engine but it rocks the car back and forth like I'm on a ride at Disney land lol. The only way I can get it to stop is to let off the gas and hold in the clutch. Then it drives fine.... It only does this in 1st and 2nd and never going down the road normal. Only if I speed up rapidly. I assumed it was a fowled plug or bad wire. Or the gap was off on a plug. So I replaced them all. So now it has New plugs, and new wires. So any thoughts on what it could be? Could it be the MAF. I have had some issues with it currently... It tends to randomly rev the motor at small intervals when idling. When I in plugg the MAF it doesn't happen. I'm sure I need a new MAF but ATM I don't want to spend $219 on a new MAF.

First step, check the CEL code.

Check engine light doesn't stay on long enough to read a code... Even if I had a reader it wouldn't read because the code corrects as soon as the car starts driving normal again.

Don't spend $219. Check the classifieds. They sell for under $50 regularly.

If the light came on, it stored the code. You don't need a scanner, just a analog voltmeter.

1st gens don't always store codes.

Just a random SWAG, but it sounds like you need to fix your motor mounts and torn intake boot...

I figured out the problem. I feel retarded, something so simple. All it took was a little engine fire lmao. So long story short. I'm smelling smoke while driving home from doing arrands and about a mile from my house the car starts acting up with my throttle response. So I pull Into my garage quickly and pop the hood smoke starts rolling out. I clear the smoke and snag what's on fire which was my paper towel used to check my oil. Lol, the battery had been grounding out on my hood right at the brace. Someone put the wrong battery in this car and it's a bit too tall. It's a good thing I caught it before it caused more damage. Or worse blew the battery up threw my hood. That would have been a mess. So now I'm on a hunt for a new battery, tie down since there wasn't one installed and maybe even considering a battery relocation. Oh and no more paper towels left under the hood. Rookie mistake, but I do have to say they were there when I bought the car. Thanks to all of you for your input. I appreciate the help with brain storming. :-P
