Sounds really easy but I've never seen seen it done. 160 is a long way away from 200. I've got the power to tap the needle (and have) but still haven't broke 200mph. I hope to crack it this summer with my carbon fiber body, JRZ suspension and AP Racing stoppers.

Not sure exactly how much power they make, but a few people land speed race 4g63 powered cars and break 200.

you guys making it sound hard. you don't need a million hp or egg's DC to crack 200. if you car is setup right it'll be able to do it. 500whp and long as strech will be enought to get it there. my car wasn't even making 400whp and it got to 160 with no sweat and the speed was still climing. a stock 3/s with 230whp can get to 160. you guys saying over duble the power can't cover the 40mph remaining? also 3/s is heavy car. it'll be very stable on high speed unless you fuck up the aero dynamic. i wish i did the max speed run before i blow up the engine, but when i get done with my build i'll make it happen with gps.

I don't think you realize the power needed to power past the DRAG you have to overcome. Trying to get 40 more mph is like trying to pick up 2 seconds in the 1/4.

this. drag is an exponential function, not an arithmetic one. i'd be surprised if any car with under 600 whp can break 200mph--unless it had some bizarre streamlined shape.

We follow the earth. The earth follows the stars. The stars know their way and though the body dies. The stars will remain, like the waves of the sea and restless slate.

yeah in a mile. that's not consider top speed. nsx does 165 with about 230whp and .31 dc. newer nsx did 171 little better drag. i would love to find out the later car DC or whp. 08 viper dc of 0.382 about 555whp does 202mph. supra with cd of 0.32 with about 280whp does 165+. c6z06 with cd 0.34 with about 430whp does 198mph. first gen vr4 with unknown cd with about 230whp (which i have seen people do as low as 213whp) does 162 or so. 2013 viper dc of 0.365 does 206 mph with about 575whp..F40 with about estmated 450whp does 201mph with DC of 0.32 . it's not so hard to guess the cd of 3000gt. i'm guessing somewhere around .032 or so just like where i read somewhere online. i mean supra makes somwhere around 40 to 50 more whp and does only a few mph more and the drag is about 0.32. now people who are trying to get to that speed with the "viper" style hood and "Ferrari like front bumper" need to try harder. just look around and compare our car with others and you'll see the difference. it's not rocket science here.

What I don't get it is... why are we spending so much time comparing a 3/S to these pedigree cars? Sure, it's fantastic that they do what they do, but you aren't going to slap a 997 body on a unibody 3/S and YASSEAH 270MPH! Sure, they have four wheels, doors, and all of that really trick shit. It's apples to oranges. It's like sitting around trying to figure out why you can't do lift the Atlas Stones at WSM based solely on the fact that those individuals also have two arms and two legs. It isn't even the same sport. Clean aero, the right horsepower, and the right powerband. Park benches, 8 hood ducts, and certainly a lack of windows isn't going to get the job done.
