ANy ideas on how to transport an engine?

Based on the block I just shipped, $150 is quite optimistic.

$150 is definitely optimistic unless one has a business account. About 6 years ago I paid $100 with a 85% discount to ship a SOHC engine from Las Vegas to southwest PA. Shipping has gone up since then.

Just rent a pick up truck for a day and load the shit into the back. Cheapest, easiest... safest (wife's wrath)

Pickup truck is best option, IMO.

i put a full engine in the back of a minivan. a couple rubbermaids and trashbacks (no fluids) and it was a piece of cake.

I put a longblock jag v12 with gm turbo 400 transmission in back of caliber once. it can be done but the car wont like it.

I fit a TT motor in the back seat of a Jetta. Tiny car, had 4 tires with me, one rim, luggage, and a tool box. I would just ship it.

I put a whole lower engine in the back of my stealth, heads up front.

Put a whole TT engine (less the turbos), with a picker a tranmission and transfercas and two people in the in the MDX. Handled it like a champ. I think the key is to make sure there is some cusioning and to spread the weight around as much as possible.

I'm 5 hours from home with my wife's car. Renting a truck isn't really feasible unless I rent a car trailer as well, then it isn't much of a deal anymore once I add extra gas money as well

I just found out the seller is a business so I fell like I can relax a little more. I don't feel like I'm going to get screwed if I set up a Uship ad. I figuered if I paid the guy, it wouldn't be there when the shipper arrived.

Finally made it to look at the engine. Apparently it's a complete running longblock from air filter to oil pan(turbos are shot), 122,000 miles, 25 spline trans(OS is worn, but not completely shot), shifter cables, TC, JDM ECU, engine harness, some IC piping, extra flywheel that is in great shape and a bunch of other crap.

I think I found a quote for about $183.00 for shipping through USF Holland so I think I'll just do that.
