I've been teasing Jesse about this ever since I met him at UMG in 02. He showed up to the gathering embarrassed by how dirty his engine bay looked. He spent a lot of time dressing a few things up and we all wanted to see it. He insisted Gene Helms and Curts car were cleaner.

Eventually we get him to pop the hood and there is this absolutely pristine low mileage engine in there. We are all standing around his car drooling and all he could do was point out the minor dirty spots. So being a smart-ass I joined in and have been doing this ever since.

That's an impressive engine bay! I need to find a chromer down here. There's a lot I want to do.

Actually, I first went up there in 2001, and my engine bay WAS one of the worst of the group. I had parked next to Dave Judy with the Fiji Blue 91 VR4. I think I still have photos from back then too, with my shredded/flaking underhood protector-thingy and never having previously cleaned anything in the car other than giving it a simple car wash. UMG 2002, that was the first year I had some engine detailing done, but it still wasn't as nice as Curt's, and nowhere near as nice as Gene Helm's 96TT. Or even Francis' 96TT, with his DR650s and DNP hardpipe kit, running 12's flat in the 1/4 (which was rare back then). I think I still have one of those fancy little booklets that Curt used to make for the UMG too, with a picture of everyone's car and the mod list. Classic stuff.

Perfect engine bay. Those hot side IC pipes look HUGE. What's the orange anodized looking bracket beneath the air filters for?

    Thanks for sharing!!!

Also please share how you are routing your PCV system when you can, thanks. Looks like you are running a catch can and check valve(s)...

I think Dave Judy made that booklet thing back in 2002. I still have mine. Its been awesome to watch your car transform over the years. We will have a car show at the 2013 UMG. Hope you can make it this year!

Yeah the hot side pipes look giant compared to the older ones. These are 2.5" now.

The orange'ish thing under the filters is the HKS DLI (recently installed, MSD ignition box removed due to it failing constantly). It's just mounted to the inner fender.

I'd have to trace it out, I don't remember off hand. IIRC, I've had a few people say it's not routed in an ideal way. I can't remember how long ago it was put in, probably 5-6 years ago. I hardly get much oil in the catch can though. Each time I've checked it, it's mostly been traces or small amount of oil.

Got the car weighed today with the corner weighting and camber/toe alignment. 3625 with only 2-3 gallons of fuel in the tank. So hard to lose weight with these cars, ugh.
