Exclamation Hey Pat help me out here - 1d MK3

Do you have any pics from your 1d mkIII? I'd like to see what kind of IQ I can expect from her. I'm picking one up Thursday.

not in my current hard drive, gotta check my backups. I know I had mine for only a few months and took a few shots from it before I sold it for two 40Ds. grab one if you can. Im still kicking myself in the nads for letting mine go. mine was perfect with the 24-70, very good dynamic range, even though i went through two 24-70s because i had severe backfocusing issues in those two copies i previously had.

I have a choice between the 1d3 and the 5d2 for a wedding I'm shooting on 10/9. I had the 5d2 for my last wedding and honestly I was NOT happy with it, I missed my pro body and I missed many frames during the rice toss because of the slow burst speed.

I mean I nailed the shot of them ducking through the rice, but had I had a few more FPS in there, and a better AI Servo mode I would have probably been happier with the keepers. I think this is the last wedding of the year, I'm starting to shoot stuff freelance for a few local papers so I think the 1.3x crop and the 10fps will really help me out. I shot a press conference a month or two ago and again I spent the time wishing i had better AF and better fps. I'm still going to use the 5d2 for studio work, but I think the 1d3 is going to be the way to go for me.

Oh and here's the cool part, local guy only wants $1,500...win.

thats not a bad price for a 1D MkIII. honestly the 7D more than makes up for the FPS I need (8) when I want it. all the 1D had for it was the dynamic range (not really an issue with what I shoot mostly) and the intimidation factor when I go out for a casual shoot. everything else I can get with the 7D at a much cheaper price. plus the transmissive LCD has a better cool factor than the densely packed AF area of the 1D MkIII.

with all my gear properly funded by money from gigs, I dont need another 1 series but would like to get one again someday. especially at the price you're getting one.
