    SCCA Rules

So, SCCA rulebook can make your head hurt at times, so here's a thread to address any questions about rules, classing, or any other concern for those of us who want to compete in SCCA.

My first concern is classing with a/m turbos:

Here's the rule for Street Prepped (ASP for our cars):
15.10.C.4 Turbochargers and/or superchargers (forced induction) may not
    be added, changed, or modified
(this does not allow ceramic coating
of turbochargers). On vehicles originally equipped with forced
    induction
So, does this bump us to SM (with a minimum weight of 3100lbs)?

Will have to look at the 2013 rules tonight

Only turbo worth upgrading to then is a Dr650.

I think I will try and class mine this year and do SCCA races instead of only the local club. See what real competition is like.

That statement clearly says that bumps you up. Should stay in stock class, its easier to figure out haha.

My car was bumped to SM because it didn't initially have turbos. They were talking about putting me in some ungodly difficult class due to a motor and tranny swap but I lucked out there.

The clubs I've raced with use SCCA classing as an outline. You CAN petition to be put in a different class, but that's a hassle if you're not racing with that club all season.

If they're all stock VR4 parts, they shouldn't class you above a stock VR4.

EDIT: I guess the rules technically say it must be COMPLETE

Option package conversions may be performed between specific vehicles
of a particular make and model, but only between configurations
from within a particular model year. Such conversions must be totally
complete and the resultant car must meet all requirements of this Section.
These requirements are not met by simply pulling a fuse to disable
a feature which distinguishes one model from another.

Yea, unless you build your car specifically for autox, you are probably in some ungodly class it is known haha.
