Scotty I think there are a few things you should not skimp on. Tyres and Brakes. These things help you stop LOL. I bought the best wet weather tyres I could after reading lots of reviews. Very good in the dry and excellent/top of the review in the wet. Came second over all in a bunch of performance tyres. Top of the class was the Goodyear A1 Asymetric which IIRC were about $600 each. Got my Falkens for $310 each. Do your own research etc as everyone on here are biased plus differnt range in the states compared to Oz.

I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't be seeing a bill for less than $1000 for the tires alone for the 3/S, but then again, I'm a track nut and good tires make a huge difference. That said though, Scotty, what the heck kind of tires did he buy that cost $1000 EACH? Did they each come with a hot babe with a happy ending?
BTW, I just googled it, a new set of tires (tyres,... haha, you ex-Brit penal colonists) for a Veyron costs $38,482
So you can now buy 4 VR4's for the price of a tire change on a Veyron.
Max
Max, what tires are you using?

Currently, 265/35/18 Yokohama A048's. Thinking of trying Nitto NT01's next
Max
Scotty, yours seem to be cheaper since they're spelled wrong. They probably tend to lead you over to the wrong side of the road, too, now that I think about it...
Max, the NT-01's are super swamper TSL loud on the highway. Friend with an Evo ran them, he had to put them on a 2nd set of TE37's for auto-x use only, they were way too loud.
Im in love with the whisper quiet Yoko S-drives and in 275/35-18 they are only like 170/ea
Jason
That and hydroplaning hazards are the downsides of running R-comps. The A048's are loud suckers too. At lower speeds, they aren't as bad, but over 40mph, you start looking for the tornado because they sound like a tornado warning siren a few blocks away (but the pitch doesn't change unless your speed does). If these tires were around in WWII, people would have probably been running for bomb shelters when you drove by.
The A048's are actually pretty good in the wet. Even on wet roads, they've got some pretty serious traction, te danger is with standing water. If there's standing water 1/2" or deeper, you'd better not be going fast. Even 1/4" of standing water could be bad news at over 80mph.
Max
Haha, sounds like a stuka dive bomber coming down the street!
