From sputtering problem..to No compression in any cylinder..

Yesterday i was trying to find out a sputtering problem At mid thottle to WOT. So we first wanted to check the ignition timing...Started the car got it to operational temp..it idled at 1k. and then we shut it off..

Grounded the brown terminal..started it back up and the ignition timing was off..so we looked in the manual and it says place it at 5 BTDC..So we did..and shut it off..

Waited awhile and cranked it up again..then i heard a couple snaps or pops as it was cranking and i just lost all compression...starter was just turning the motor....

We looked at the timing marks on the camshafts and the front exhaust bank was off by 1 tooth when we lined up everything..Everything thing else was lined on...But i had no compression anywhere when i manually turned the motor....

Can anyone exactly tell me what happend..Did i bend valves, did i blow a blow a headgasket?..im going to tear the heads off today..

Do a cylinder pressure test to find where your compression has gone before you pull it apart. You sure the crank hasnt jumped teeth?

Should have pulled the cam gear covers first and looked for belt and valve timing issues.
When was last 60K service completed? I would not crank that motor agian with out pulling timing covers.
