    Agree 100%!!!

but may i suggest streetABLE as different category...which is more where i would put a 1200 horespower corvette.

Perhaps ask it this way, at what horsepower level does a car become NOT street?!?

no limit. if you have 2000 horsepower but can go drive in the city, on a 90* day, then its a street car. it might be a pain with the clutch and all, it may not be very enjoyable at all, but that is my definition. you cant argue comfort because then i would argue that an old jeep wrangler isnt a street car because its really uncomfortable to drive around... or even my dads powerstroke. you cant argue fuel mileage, because, well thats an easy one to trump. whether you get traction or not if you try to get on it isnt really a fair argument either, because that can be true for a 300whp honda with an open dif up front.

you see where im going with this? the only real thing that limits a car built for racing and a car built for 'the street' is if you have the ability to daily drive it. well, that ability will obviously be cut off if it overheats when sitting still or in stop/go traffic. if there is another cut off, then name it, but thats the only one i can think of right now. i am usually pretty strict on if it is gutted though, so if you want to say it needs at least a semi-full interior, i could agree with that.

and dont argue if its got a legal exhaust and junk. i live in ky.

Fair enough, just a difference of definition. To me, anything is streetABLE...but a true street car has a limit, based on usable power. Sure, you can put 1,000 to the ground, but where in a daily driving scenario does that ever come into play? Stoplight runs obliterate tires, and high speed runs turn into a felony speeding charges.

Sal's 2600hp twin turbo Viper is a street car. He drives it around town and has taken it on trips. It has full interior, is a full weight car, and even has luxuries like A/C. It has great drive-ability.

Everyone's definition of a street car is different. I agree there is a line drawn where it's completely ridiculous. You can only use so much power. There are people out there that say as long as it can be tagged and insured it's a street car no matter if it's gutted, tube framed, has a chute, etc. There will always be those people so it's not worth trying to argue what a street car is.

Wingnut, by your definition of streetcar, a Ford Focus is a racecar. Mash it at the light and all you'll do is spin the front tires into smoke all day long. It's top speed will result in you being arrested in any state of the USA. How much HP a car has is not how much HP a car always has to make, a great invention called the throttle solves a lot of issues.

If the average girl will get in the car and ride with you somewhere without complaining about it.........street car. Doesn't matter if it has 80HP or 8000HP.

With modern safety systems like traction control, you can have 5000hp, the system will still limit you to whatever the surface allows.

Actually, most of the bigger power cars blow right through it. Tires spinning in 3rd-gear with the TC on is pretty easy lol

Hmmm, that's surprising on the newer cars. If powertrain intervention doesn't catch tires spin (which boosted application it confused the ECU enough), the brake will catch the wheel spin.

I honestly only put "Street car" in because we are used to "That's it?" type of responses with all the big-HP Vette builds out there. This build has twin-35R's right off the manifolds so no way to fit anything bigger in the current configuration.

It's still plenty of power to get in trouble with
    Jeff
