Question GI: Flash Tuning Option for SOHC

Thanks to a few members on the forums, the VR4 now has a flash tuning option for the ECU ( http://www.3sgto.org/f2/so-who-wants...omed-7175.html ) and as of recently so does the NA DOHC ( http://www.3sgto.org/f2/present-flas...uys-10534.html ).

What I'd Like to know is who is interested in a flash tuning option for the SOHC?

I'm sure there are gains to be had. Maybe if enough of us show interest and throw some donations to the pioneers of the other Flash Roms, then we might see this option for SOHC also.

For now, just list your name if you are interested in the idea of a flash tunable SOHC.

You know what's funny? There have been EPROM based SOHC ECUs out there for years....and nobody paid attention to them. Same thing with the ATX computer.

But now that 'flash' is the new cool thing to have, suddenly everyone wants on the bandwagon.

o.0 That I did not know. You sir have given me something to look for. I still want to see if anyone wants a flash version, but at least now I know there are other options.

I'd put my name in, but I honestly don't know what the future holds and if I will even be able to keep my car.

Bump. Since there is a new subforum for ECU tuning, this thread should probably be moved.

    ??? doesn't sohc have a distributor

i also dont think sohc has a knock sensor so tuning would be more like guessing

Yes to the distributor, but as far as I can tell, advancing and reducing timing at the distributor is electronicly controlled not vacuum like i've seen on other cars. Wouldn't that mean the ECU controls timing. Isn't timing and A/F ratio the basics needed for tuning? Sorry I'm new to tuning. Learning as I go.

No there is no knock sensor. Which does worry me. Not sure if there is a way around this. The position of the knock sensor on SOHC Diamante's is where the intake manifold goes on a SOHC 3000gt, so I can't swap that over. Not sure where the knock sensor is on a vr4 or if It can be modified to work on a SOHC.

Either way I need to find a tuning method. Right now I've built up the engine as much as I can in NA form and I'm sure a tune would help squeeze a bit more out, but isn't necessary (others run similar mods with stock ecu). Next step would be forced induction, which I won't attempt until i find a way to tune.

Well I just found out the SOHC ECU is flashable. There just isn't a SOHC Specific rom available yet, like chrome is for the VR4/SL. Chrome has been loaded by others, but it will not run right since it is not setup for SOHC. EvoScan does work with the SOHC ECU. I was under the impression that hardware modifications were needed for flash tuning, but appearently they are only needed if the SOHC ECU is going to be used in a VR4.

Mono could do this one in less than 30 min. Already did all of the hard ones.
