One thing that seems to have disappeared is kids walking home from school. I live across the street from a middle school and it seems like EVERY kid is getting picked up by their parents or by some sort of service. None of them walk home.

i started on the typewriter, skipped the electric typewriter, and moved directly to the word-processor.

other things that these whipper snappers don't remember:

    1993 trade center bombing
    chernobyl
nelson mandela being freed from prison
the fall of the berlin wall
the birth of the CIS (i doubt they even know what that is)
    Desert Storm
    MTV with actual music videos
Apple when it was a GOOD (moral) company
cursing the names of "David Hastings" and "Stephen Meek" (MAJOR props if you know what game i'm talking about)
the birth of rockapella and the entire run of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego" on TV
would barely (if at all) be able to remember oklahoma city bombing

they also probably think that the greatest "Game Show" ever is probably whatever fox dreamed up this week--NOT double-dare
have no idea what "being slimed" is, or why people would get slimed
haven't a clue who john hughes was--let alone the "brat pack"

I am on a fine line of this border being discussed. I find this rather interesting.

i'm sure some of the old guys in here could throw in 3-mile-island, iran hostage crisis, oil embargo, and watergate. milt will throw in the kennedy assassination, the moon landing, and days when women couldn't show their navel on tv..

Milt is older than I am, and I remember Kennedy being shot like it was yesterday.

Milt remembers the HUAC hearings, though.

I'm pissed my generation gets mad if everyone gets a trophy. Only winners get trophies. If your complaining that everyone didn't get a trophy, you aren't a winner.
