When I lived in Las Vegas I walked to school in 2nd and 3rd grade by myself. The school was about a mile away and I had to cross a 6 lane blvd to get there.

I hear the crossing guards in Vegas are mobbed-up.
Ranked No. #1 in initial quality

Idiots, simply by being idiots, seem capable of achieving randomly bad things that are beyond the imaginings of sensible people.

Why? And especially why not high school if it's close enough? Hell, I walked to elementary school by myself or with a friend if we happened to leave around the same time and meet up at an intersection. The only reason I didn't walk to middle school or high school was because they were too far away (high school I took a bus, but still had to walk 4 blocks to the bus stop).

I had to walk 1/2 mile to get to my bus stop in high school. Bus stop is still in the same spot today.

Do they still do fire drills during school?
I still remember doing bomb drills in elementary school. Can you believe they actually thought you'd be safe during a nuclear strike by hiding under your desk?

I'm a youngin, but I still walked uphill both ways, in every condition imaginable. Still remember a day in freezing rain and getting to school with my pants frozen solid and my backpack taking all day to thaw, just to walk home in the rain. Good times. Kept me in shape at least
