He was alive. Autopsy found that he died from the wounds, not the fall.

Body takes over in situations like that. He would've been in full blown shock, flooded with adrenalin. Doubt there was much pain.

Still, it was probably very terrifying for him. I can't believe nobody jumped in to at least try and save him.

It is horrible that the little boy died due to his parents mistake.

As much as I will preach that it is not the zoos fault and it is the Mothers fault and she should take full responsibility, that is just horrible!

What's really horrible is there are 12 men/women somewhere who will, because of their own grief over this tragedy, award the mother millions of dollars in damages against the zoo.

What should happen is a prosecution of the mother for involuntary manslaughter/child endangerment/etc/etc. and those 12 men/women somewhere could find her guilty and give the real victim some small amount of justice.

    Just my 1.5 cents worth.

Well would hope for the later as well since it was her choice to lift the child up onto the safety railing.
As far as them suing the Zoo it would probably be a lost cause but I'm sure some blood sucking lawyer out there will try since it wont cost the family anything unless they would by chance win. I've been to the zoo many and they like many other venues have a waiver on their tickets so by purchasing and entering the grounds they are not liable for any damages. Just feel sad that they will probably end up in court :/
