imax 3D is so much NOT like home theatre that it's hard to compare the two. even if you have a 120" picture with a $10,000 front projector.

The closest imax theater to me is 2.5 hours away. If you think I'm investing 8+ hours for a movie...

3D is cool...unless you wear glasses. Horribly uncomfortable having two pairs of glasses on. They really need to rework those glasses to be more like the senior citizen, glaucoma, wrap around, style.

agree. i do wear glasses and it IS a pain. the glasses i've used in the netherlands are much better. and i bought them, so i don't have to worry about how gross they are.

You can go to theaters that aren't set up like that. I sometimes go to a theater where you get your own reclining chair and table in front of you. Kind of like your sitting at a bar. Each spot has gratuitous room. They serve beer, liquor, food etc too.

sounds like the arts cinema at the indy fashion mall. the cinema i go to in europe also has generous room, stadium seating, and serves alcohol (there's also a restaruant attached to it).
