Do it.
Do it.
I know that it will suck to fix. I have $2500 in savings. -1500 for the car and that leave 1000, I can get the engine for $1500 (knock them down a little) and will pay for that with the next paycheck. My concern is "why" why did it blow up. I am going to be going to take a good look at it this weekend to see what needs to be done exactly. My father can install it for free so
really it will be my car +3000 for a 350z.

Ahhh, One last fix. And it would literally be perfect for ......prolly a week BUT! thats still a week of perfection.
unless that Z is a total heap, this is a no brainer.
Thats what im thinking, although I am driving down to give someone my driving car and money to tow a car home. It just sucks to think that lol. What should I look for when im there? Any straight give aways on being beat or not? My dad is concerned that what if we put a new engine in and its the computer and it does it again? Is that even a possibility?
Rather have my vr4. I would sell your car and put that money plus 1500 towards a vr4. I dislike 350z's looks and they are slow stock.
92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD Auto = 10.61@127.8 (1.4 60ft)
94 3000gt SL 8:1TT 5spd getrag = 11.87@123 (1.8 60ft)
91 3000gt VR4 13gs = 11.61@115 (1.59 60ft)
Thats the thing....My car isnt selling. Well it did once and I said no. But I cannot find a buyer now. The car is great just no buyers in my area. And comparing it to an SL it is actually faster. I could only dream of owning a VR4 but without a buyer on my car it isnt a possibility.
Yea I hear you about selling the car, but man I just love 3s's and would wait. But it is an upgrade over the SL in terms of acceleration for sure.
Do it! Fix the Z, sell it, and by a nice VR-4
From looking at the two pics, I would stick with your SL.
However, if the Z isn't salvage titled and REALLY only needs a wheel and an engine, then it would make for a good turn around sale. But I doubt that the guy that smacked a curb hard enough to break a wheel, and blew up his relatively young engine, took very good care of the car. Who knows how the transmission is.
I would do some research on the Z. IIRC '03's were the worst year for them.

I honestly dont like the car as much as yours, however if you can make money on it then go ahead.
I have to say though I cant stand the part about your dad being able to change the engine for free. It still is a suck job whether he is your dad or not. I do all kinds of expensive repairs for friends and family for free so I know what its like on that side. Do your dad a favor and work with him every step of the way. Tell him you will do all the work, all he has to do is tell you what to do.
