    3.5 Project Swap (Confusion)

Well, I've picked up a 3.5 the other day, it was from JDMEngineDepot. Hans recommended the site a while ago, and I just got around the funds and time to do the swap. Now I've sifted through pages of how-to's on 101 different ways to do this and the part that confuses me, was when the recommendation was mentioned, this was to be a direct drop in with no modifications due to it being a Debonair Engine, other than swapping the CAS from my 72 to the 74. Again I'm reminded of oil pan modding, throttle bodies, shaving parts and pieces. and I'm unsure of whats going to be in store for me. The vehicle is out of state right now in PA and once I embark on my 2 day project I won't be able to compensate for any lack of tools. So I'll ask again. Is there any insight to this Debonair engine thats supposed to be a no hassle simple drop in?

there is no such thing as a "no hassle" 6g74 drop-in replacement. if you want that, get a 3.5L 6g72. afaik, wrenchmonkey.com is still the key authoritative source on it. the 74 was never designed with the 3/s AWD system in mind. having a pan modded to fit the 74 w/ AWD should just make sense.

He's dropping this in a non-turbo. He just should have mentioned that. As long as you have all the accessories for the engine, it drops right into a non-turbo.
