1993 Ford F250 extra cab 4x4 diesel 7.3L International motor

I need a new truck for towing the 3000, hauling trash/crap to the dump and possibly a camper and boat in the future. I think I can get this truck for about 2,200 or trade for my RX7. It's fine mechanically but the door and fender is a little rough.

Anybody know if these are good trucks? Anybody have one or have owned one in the past?

If its turbo, its a good buy. those old IDI engines run forever and the OBS trucks are generally very reliable chassis. Mild tweaks and will make decent power.

    Peronally, id get something newer.

non turbo, I can get it at for 1900 maybe less. I just drove it and it does seem to run just fine. Body isn't great but not bad for a work truck.

    This is the bad side.

I'd trust anything Jason says about diesel trucks. Since when do you have an RX7 Paul????

I've had it a while, 2 years I guess. It's a 89 convertible. Pretty fun car to drive around in. I bought it to have something fun to drive back and fourth to work while the 3000 was down for the AWD conversion and build.

Those engines were dogs for fuel economy and power compared to the 1st gen cummins in a Dodge. I ran a 460 Ford F350 hotshot in the late 80s and several guys had those Ford diesel trucks/engines and dumped them for the Dodge/Cummins as soon as they hit the market. I still have my '86 F350 and am looking at putting a 12V cummins in it as opposed to the international diesel that would slide right in. I'm loking at pulling the 3000GT to National events and getting there in a reasonable amount of time with decent fuel economy. Dodge/Cummins>Ford/International. I've seen the early Dodge/Cummins in truck trader for the $2000 to $3000 range, just sayin'. Good luck whichever way you go.

Cool thanks, in your opinion 1900 is a little on the steep side?

Price is steep for that truck. You don't want an IDI unless you plan on running it on waste veggie oil. They'll burn damn near anything for fuel. You can get an OBS powerstroke for 2K, maybe less, and get into a 99-03 for $5K or even less if you can wrench.

I don't know where these deals are, I can't find anything like it for <3K. I definitely can't afford to drop 5K on a truck right now. Maybe they are just worth more in the south or something lol.

You know I can wrench Chris
