    That's surprising, Robyn used to be such a fanatic about these cars, I'm surprised she let the car fall into that kind of condition. Kudos for restoring it.

    What do you mean the engine had the wrong head gasket? That just looks like the original composite gasket to me..?

    It is the composite NA gasket in a turbo car...not the 3 layer steel gasket.

    Believe they didn't switch to the multilayer gaskets till 94. I know all the 2-bolt motors come with it NA or TT.

    That surprises me because it is the four bolt cradle. I've been wrong before, though. The engine gasket set I ordered though Mitsubishi for a 1993 VR4 came with the 3 layer steel gasket. They must be substituting the new gasket for all turbo years. That also leads me to believe the heads have never been pulled on the car before...which is a good thing.

    Yes, they don't use composite gaskets in any of the DOHC engine gasket kits anymore.
