    it never ends

Sometimes it feels like a never ending story. You finish with one thing and something else pops up that needs to get done :P

These are my next "projects" to get my car thru inspection again..

I need to swap out the front right rotor disc due to rust on the back. Not sure if i would be able to just rubb the rust off. Looking around for "cheap", daily driver rotor discs and brake pads..Any suggestions?

I need to get my Tanabe Exhaust system approved by the DMV.
I also need to find silencers that kill dB better that the ones that came with the system to pass the inspection. It should be enough to find some cheap ones, think 4" would fit the pipe. Any suggestions?

I need to add a catalytic converter to my exhaust system as it was removed by the ones putting it in. Found one Universal for 150$ shipped, is this a fare price?

I need to get my K sport coilover kit approved by the DMV.

There was rust on some hydralic lines and rust somewhere else(dont remember), but thats for another time.

I have spent so much time troubleshooting abs fault and a no starter that i failed to check under the car or check the brakes..

Where the HELL do you live that RUST causes you not to pass inspection? (Communistfornia?)

Hell, my rotors get rust on them everytime it rains, but after some mild braking it disappears....

Good Luck (and I wouldn't want to live where you do...)

I live in HELL, car HELL :P Its called norway, where every part you buy is 130% more expensive than anywhere in the world..no kidding..

If the ones who inspect my car believe I have more than 25% rust on my brake pads(which I did the last inspection) or rotor discs I will fail.

I guess i failed the emission due to the catalytic converter not being there..too much Co2..but they said the lamda was low..

I am planning on taking the rotors of and try and rubb the rust off, use brake cleaner to help out. But if I understood the ones who did the inspection I need to buy new rotors.

You are plessed, dear sir, that do not live in Norway

For your daily/routine maintenance you can do Rockauto or equivalent. I am not sure what kind of deal you can get sent to Norway. Pads you should be able to source locally at a decent price.

    RockAuto Policies

Recommend getting a link/pdf of service manuals. Ninja Performance (a site sponsor) has links on their site.

I would recommend you check a local muffler place for your exhaust, they should be able to tell you what will pass inspection. You could get a couple of opinions to ensure they are being truthful. I have 3" diameter exhaust, but no decibal requirements for inspection. Norway sounds like gubmint is intrusive.

Do you actually need a cat or just visual inspection of one? $150 sounds fair shooting from hip, but you certainly need to get multiple quotes to be sure.

I have ordered from Rockauto before, and the shipping was fast. And the part I ordered(IAC) was very cheap compared to local price.
A rotor disc at home costs about 170$, brake pads costs 125$, think its Brembo.

The cat costs 600$ dollars at home, or a universal costs 116$(not sure it will fit though). Think ill go for that 150$ one with shipping. I only need it for inspection, after that im taking it off.

The same goes for the silencers. Ill see how the sound will be after I install that cat, maybe ill get less dB with it on and pass emission at the same time.

Mitsubishi owners in Finland have good experiences using Camskill (Cheap Tyres Discount Tyres Buy Tyres Online & Japanese Import Car Parts Spares Tuning Performance Servicing Accessories) to order spare parts. Cheaper than to go to local spare parts dealer, not to mention Mitsubishi original parts...

isnt Ohio the same way?? Ive seen so many half there rust buckets driving around from ohio.

As far as the rotors and pads I love my Porterfield's ...the rotors are slotted and dimpled as well as coming with a nice coating on them so the part the pads dont touch have rusted very little in the 9 years I've had them on the car and the R4S pads do a great job of stopping.

You don't have anyone that resurfaces rotors in Norway..? Common procedure here. As long as they're over minimum thickness it should be a workable solution.

I wouldn't worry about the noise level until you get a catalyst on it... That will quiet it down a bunch.
