For local chapters/groups, use social groups or forums.

By now everyone should have had time to play with the socialgroups feature and see if they think its a good or bad idea for use to support local groups and chapters.

I like some of the things the feature provides but its not as well intigrated into the rest of the forum as I'd like.

    What do you think?

    Wait for the poll.

I voted can we have both, however is there a way to get sent updates on a social group that you belong to? Kinda like how I get E-mails on new posts to the threads that I subscribed to and how the yahoo will send an e-mail when a message has been posted.

If those could happen, I fail to see why we would need the forum part.

ok I just joined and Im kinda lost here.. social groups?? IMO it was fine with the way they've been as part of the forum. The only nice addition would have been some public events calendar...

edit: wow just came across them... the first time I noticed them I thought it was just a part of the forum like it used to be

social groups were impossible to find, it's so much easier to see the events/regional button.

I set up the social group for 3spa and it wasn't difficult, but forums are much easier to use and have more options. I vote for forums.

Same here. I like the social groups but they just don't seem to be generating much traffic. I'd rather just have one place to look for local stuff.

Thinking about it some more, the social groups have their void they can fill, but I would like to have the chapters as forums, and let people create groups for odd ball things, like maybe other hobbies and the like.

In the groups, it's not as obvious that there are new posts. To me, anyways.

Forums . . . maybe an old habit but I was used to them. I liked a Carolina forum rather than SE. As much as the FL activiites may have interested me, they were really not pertinent.
