The right shoes and comfortable socks, as noted before, can make or break the trip. On a Long Trail hike not too long ago in vermont, those two things were the only issues we had.

Remember to bring enough water, and wear layers that are easy to take off/put on.

If you are taking food and you are in that part of the mountains you need a bear bag. You want to put your food and anything heavily scented in a bag, tie a rope around it and throw the rope over tree limb and pull the bag up to at least 10 feet. Keep this bag away from your tent site and you shouldn't have any bears trying to get in your tent for food.

At that elevation you probably won't be able to get a fire going with any wood you find on the ground because you will be in the clouds at night and morning so everything will be saturated. It's also going to be considerably cooler at that altitude at night so make sure your gear is suited for low 40's or colder.
