Using 1st gen calipers on 2nd gen rotors

As most are aware the only difference between 1st gen and 2nd gen calipers is the length of the mounting tabs. Same pads etc. So i had a though. Has anyone made a bracket that would allow the 1st gen caliper to sit further out to fit larger rotors? Would be cheaper than sourcing 2nd gen calipers. Rotors are easy to get.

IIRC reman calipers are pretty cheap at parts placed, just measure to make sure 2G, as they don't

yeah I thought about this, but the remans were only $100 a piece. It never hurts to have fresh calipers anyway.

But if done right they could be made for about $20.00 a piece and it would quarter the time it took to fit them. No need to bleed brake lines etc. Just unbolt from hub, remove rotor. fit rotor bolt on adapter and calliper and your done.......... I'll look into it.

I don't think there is enough room to build a reliable bracket and if you would why stop there? Extend it out for a 13" rotor.

Unless you can find a 13" rotor with the same pad surface area then you will end up with uneven wear and it would look dumb......

So a mate here in Melbourne has a spare front knuckle with hub attached, 1st gen caliper and 2nd gen rotor. Will pick them up tomorrow and see if its possible. I think the hardest thing will be finding someone to laser cut the final product.
