LA: Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Gonna try San Francisco.

I think I'm going to try SF.

Things I will miss: Sub-$1M houses, living in the suburbs, the laid-back SoCal attitude, Santa Monica, 10 months of perfect weather, Mexican food, the Stealth in commercials.

Things I will not miss: The OMFG summer heat, having to drive everywhere.

Being libertarian, I don't know how I manage not to rage out here, but I make it work. God DAMN it is gorgeous.

The GF and I on a typical foggy morning:

The wife and I really enjoyed SF when we went the summer before last. Even in the summer, the golden gate bridge on a bicycle in mesh shorts was a terrible idea. While I love all the beautiful views around the city, I'm not a fan of the home architecture.

    Good luck!

CA is a great place to visit, but I'd never want to live there, even if I could afford a house that offered everything my home in TX does. Just too expensive out there unless you bought a decade or two ago before the huge surge in pricing.

Thanks! Ha ha, yeah SF pretty much defines "microclimate". Wear layers.

The architecture... well let's be honest, it sucks. But of course you can't change anything because of the local gov.

I'm pretty much on a "get in and get out" strategy here in Cali. I can't imagine settling down here, and I think the whole state is still due for a major recession and real estate hit.

In the meantime I'm having fun though, so why not?

Glad you are having fun Justin. Your "get in and get out" plan, that mean you're planning to return to TN? lol

How long have you been dating that girl now?

Who knows dude. I'm sort of a restless spirit. Fortunately I found a girl that's OK with that, isn't crazy about marriage, doesn't want kids, etc. Heck being a DINK is the only way you can survive in the city these days.

    It's been about 1y 4mo now I believe.

Hahaha. Really though, in the South I swear there are no girls like that. I was starting to think I was going to be a bachelor for life. I had no idea this model existed.

I've spent some time in Seattle and loved it, but if I were going for the no income tax thing I'd probably move to Austin TX.

I go there at least once a year to visit the in-laws its beautiful as well as weather is fantastic compared to coming from hot and humid North Texas. I hopefully plan to retire there someday...
