Thumbs up ok, finally figured out why the dash lights werent working....

So, i havent trouble shot in about a week due to time...plus my battery was dead and my charger fried itself. So, today i bought a new battery and a very nice charger. (future investment schumacher or something, 150a (engine start, down to a 2a trickle).

ok, so i tore the dash apart before and found extra wires to a power and a ground. So, i figured out that those went to my old HDI digital boost gauge. So, took those out.
Made a light tester from the fuse box in the engine bay on the fuse that kept blowing, ran the wires with the light bulb into the car so i could see it when trouble shooting. It would light up with my lights on showing a short to ground. once i found the connector with the short, the light would shut off.....so

Next...unbolted the junction box under the dash and unplugged all the connectors, and one by one plugged them in to see which connector had the short...
so after i found out the connector i traced it to my wire harness going to the rear of the car. Started looking at my wiring going to trunk and everything and still couldnt find the short.

so, i took a break from that and wanted to see what the hell was wrong with my aem wideband. Took off my pillar and started to look at the wiring. tested the power to the gauge and was getting 12v. now i was like ok, power gotta be a bad ground. sure enough, the guy who installed this for me spliced the uego and the boost guage and the splice went bad. recrimped new connectors and shrink wrapped them and viola! aem works now. As i was putting the apillar back on saw the wires running along the apillar frame and there is a screwq that holds my pod....well that one happened to be sitting directly thru the middle of the green/white power wire going to the rear of the car. respliced and tapped it up and all my gauges light up again and everything is perfect. ran the car for awhile in the garage and car is happy now.

all i can say is holy shit there is a ton of fucking wiring in these cars and hopefully if you have gremlins its easier than what i did. Next time, if something goes bad, check the surroundings for a possible issue.

oh btw, my wideband guage works perfect too. Atleast now i know where alot of the connectors go and how alot of the circuits are mapped out.

Awesome! Electrical gremlins are the worst, especially the lighting circuit because it goes everywhere.
