awild - i know my NA 3kgt was crappy during the winter here, it had to much power and not enough traction. im hopeing the AWD DSM will do fine but we'll have to wait and see. might have to get some good traction tires tho.

I know alot of people leave that bolt out of the exhaust manifold so they can take the exhaust manifold off without removing the powersteering pump.
92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD Auto = 10.61@127.8 (1.4 60ft)
94 3000gt SL 8:1TT 5spd getrag = 11.87@123 (1.8 60ft)
91 3000gt VR4 13gs = 11.61@115 (1.59 60ft)
I've had two different AWD DSMs in the winter. One with all season tires, the other with street tires in the front and all seasons in the back (that got interesting if you wanted it to...AWD snow drifting made easy.) This thread's got me thinking 1g awd again as winter quickly approaches.
11secondFWD - shouldn't i be worried about exhaust leaking out?? and the O2 reading wrong?? i have been told it can burn up valves from leaning out, is this right??
Well I do have all of my studs/bolts in my exhaust manifold, but I know some leave that one off to save time if they are felling lazy. If you have a new gasket and all of the other bolts are in and snug and you dont feel/hear any leaks from the edges of the manifold than I would say you are ok. I has a talon missing 3 bolts on the manifold where is bolts to the head and it never leaked at all. Turbo spooled crazy fast too. So I would just check if there is a leak first, but why not put a new one in anyway to be safe and maybe a new gasket.. It might be that the thread is stripped out and you might need to heli coil it. And thats why there isnt one in there.
As far as o2 reading wrong, and exhaust leak pre o2 sensor is only going to read wrong at low exhaust flow, aka idle. When under wot it isnt a problem.
Well, I would definetely make sure you aren't leaning out. In all my cars I buy a wbo2, you can hurt a lot of things by running lean.
And by the way if you plan on modding the car and making it fast get ecmlink v3 first, it is a god sent. Its my favorite part of having a dsm.
My car is stock tranny and full weight automatic awd. I have a small 16g, and ebay fmic that i made for free (well $130 total but i had all the parts from 3000gt). I have very basic mods but I made sure I had enough fuel (1150cc) and proper management first (ecmlink v3). Its so important. I run 12.2 with minimal mods and at the shootout I was beating people with gt35r's and a ton of mods because they didnt have fuel or a good way to tune their car. Forget SAFC and piggybacks with the dsm. ECMlink is so cheap.
With 14b's people were running 10 and 11's. With 1150cc's, ecmlink v3 and e85 you could run some decent boost and be fast with just your stock 14b. My buddy on his 14b car with only 1150's, v3, fuel pump and e85 kills my buddy with evo3 16g, fmic, safc, full exhaust, ect.
Also, do not go get a evo 3 16g and a ton of other mods without having fuel done. It seems obvious but I see so many with evo 3, exhaust fmic and a bunch of other mods and they are running on stock injectors and stock fuel pump. They can't run much boost safely and are running like crap not to mention dangerously.

That gouging is a sign that the wrong length bolt was reinstalled in the front holes of the oil pan. There are shorter bolts that fit there. Or something fell into the timing cover.
yeah you should do a 60k just to play it safe. That valve cover is a trip lol. I like.
very nice gsx! it makes me miss my 91 tsi awdi like the ironman project idea. ecm link for the win most definitely! as soon as im done getting my 2g gsx together thats the first thing im getting before it gets driven. it is the most valuable part when it comes to tuning and modding, you cant go wrong. on another note dsms can push power easily with just some bolt ons and tuning but i decided to go the 2.3 stoker route for a mean street machine. and ice, leaning out can do more than just burn your valves you can burn a hole right though your pistons and thats not good lol
That is a dam clean looking 1g you got yourself. Have fun with the modding, if you need any help or parts, we are a big DSM shop as well, thats aactually what STM started from.
