Thread: No spark. I need some help.

No spark. I need some help.

I pulled into the driveway last week and the car just flat out died. I tried to start it back up, and it will just sit there and crank.

I checked for fuel and I think I have fuel to the rails. I pulled a plug after cranking it a while and could smell gas on it if I put my nose to it, but couldn't see or feel wetness.

I don't have spark. I've replaced the coil pack and still have no spark.

The ECI fuse is good. So is the engine fuse under the dash.

I set the plug and wire on top of the plenum and got in the car and cranked it to check for spark. It cranked with no spark for about five seconds, I think I heard the MFI click, then sparked for maybe 1 second. Then didn't spark any longer.

Could it be the MFI? I thought it was just for the fuel pump?

If your car is a 91-93 you may want to pull the ecu and check for leaky capasitors.
If that's not it then check for a pulse signal from your crank sensor. Then check that you have a pulse signal to the ptu.

I had very similar issue. after checking EVERY fuse, relay and ptu, ecu, I've replaced Crank Angle Sensor and it started right up. I hope this helps.

On the Internet you can be anything you want. It's strange that so many people choose to be stupid.

    It's a 95. So I doubut it's the ecu.

How do I check for a pulse from the CAS?

With a voltmeter. Check for voltage at the plug (red wire) and ground (black wire). Then, while cranking, check for a pulse from the plug (blue wire). You will need to back probe the connector to check the pulse as you need to keep it plugged in.
