I read an article on smart phone battery life and am following it pretty much. Plug the phone in every night and have a car charger on the phone all the time while you are traveling. Install the app killer app and keep all unnecessary apps killed. I saw a major battery life increase when I installed this little jewel. Also, I only turn on my bluetooth, GPS or WIFI if I am going to use it, otherwise I keep them off as they use battery life.
....... TOM TOM has other features like POI search that is easier to use than an app on the phone, but for around $50, why spend close to $100 and up for a GPS turn by turn navigator when you have a droid x that will do the job? ...... The wife and I share the unlimited plan, so it pretty much doesn't matter to us how much we use the data features.
Thanks for the tidbits of info.
Invested in a Nuvi last May, iPhone wasn't dependable in some of the out of the way places I'd find myself in.
    Our data plans are unlimited
Learning curve .. not too difficult.
Size of the X is considerably greater, but not an issue.
I will find a holster for less than Verizon desires, it takes up too much pocket space

I was blown away by the number of employees in the local store.
26 total, there were over 15 at the time roaming around, some aimlessly.
Almost looked like a road crew
Business plan could definitely stand improvement

Let me tell you about my day. Friends Droid X decided it was going to update. Battery died during the middle of the update. Phone turns on only to say "Corrupt Code" "Low Bat" "Cannot Program"

Come to find out, the Droid X cannot even charge the battery when it is in this mode, and there is no way to get out of this mode if your battery died during update. We don't know anyone else with one of these, and he had to have his phone for work the next morning. The Verizon store was closed so there was no help there. He had to solder a USB cable onto the battery and plug it into a 5v 1A wall charger to manually charge the battery. I did not feel comfortable about this at all, but we charged it for 45 minutes, it started to get warm so we unplugged it, checked to voltage, 3.78v. Sweet.

Popped it in, used RSD_lite and got it back up and running. MY GOD that is a pain in the ass. I am so glad the iPhone is not like this AT ALL.

There has never been 1 occasion in 3 YEARS that I have ever had to remove my battery in my iPhone. No matter how much I have fucked it up jailbreaking and all sorts of shit, bricking it beyond belief, I have always managed to get it up and running again, and never have had to remove the battery to do so. Never had to open the phone either.

It's his fault for initiating the update with low battery, it specifically warns you not to go ahead unless you have over 20% of the battery life. Also, I have no idea how he managed to do that, I thought most of the new Android phones had an internal failsafe to prevent such a thing. My Droid died during an update the other day (my fault, I admit it) and it powered right back up on the charger because it had that failsafe there.

Sounds more like Motorola thought that wasn't necessary for the DX for whatever reason. Idiots.

That's not the phone's fault. That is your friend's fault. Classic way to brick a phone. I will say, you are the first person with an iPhone brag about how you can't replace the battery.

Let me say this. ITS MOTOROLA'S FAULT. If they user is that dumb, you shouldn't leave them with a bricked phone. I never said I was bragging about how I couldn't replace my battery (and you can on an iPhone 4 in about 15s). All I was saying was there has never been an occasion where I have had to remove it for ANY reasons. To update, to reset it, whatever, Apple was at least smart enough to put failsafes all over that phone so that a normal user can plug it in and click restore and 90% of the time it will unbrick your iPhone. NOT the case with the droids. Humans make mistakes, like thinking their android has enough battery power when they update (which I have heard NUMEROUS complaints about the droids battery usage). But to do what I had to do is really just unacceptable, and the fact that you are trying to defend it is retarded.

YOU CANNOT BRICK AND IPHONE, EVEN IF THE BATTERY DIES WHILE UPDATING. Oh wait, it won't die while updating because IT CHARGES while updating, unlike the droid.

Even my original EDGE iPhone from 2007 still has decent battery life. Even longer than my friends Droid X. And it has been used constantly for the past 3 years by all sorts of people. I have never known 1 iPhone user that has had a need to even get to the battery, so I don't even see what the big deal is even if you cannot easily replace them. It seems like YOU HAVE to have access to the battery for droid or you will inevitably brick your phone.

If you had it rooted with clockwork mod, you could probably fix it.

    But yeah, user error there.

Anyone with a 6th grade education will agree with that statement. Quit being ignorant.
